• REAL PARTY: A Nautical Inspired Engagement Party

Posted on August 20, 2012 by in Engagement Parties, Nautical, Themes

I’m excited to share this engagement party we threw for my sister Lauren and her fiancé Kevin back in June…I’m a little slow to share – but we had such a great time and I thought better late then never.  Kevin and Lauren went to high school together but didn’t really know each other – it was not until about 9 years after graduation when they re-met and their love story began.  Kevin is in the Navy so a nautical inspired engagement party only seems appropriate.

The party was  held at the Monmouth Boat Club in Red Bank, NJ.  My grandfather was one of the original founders of this club and my mother grew up racing sailboats here – so it was a great location with lots of family memories from here over the years…and the perfect setting for a nautical theme.

    Tying the Knot Invitations

We combined the traditional engagement announcement with the party invitation to kill two birds with one stone!  The main wording announced the engagement and then we had wording for the invitation at the party to invite all friends and family to a casual gathering to celebrate.

The boat club can be a little tricky to navigate to – so the back of the invitation featured a custom map and directions directly to the boat club!

No Party would be complete without a banner!  We did a custom banner to coordinate with the invitations and it came out sooo cute!

I didn’t have a great deal of time to snap photos of all of the food – but the fruit cups in particular were one of my favorite things – so cute!

Kevin’s sister made the cake and cake pops!  And his mother made these adorable brownie bites to look like life savers.

Here are a few family photos from the celebration…

Now the fun really gets to start with designing Lauren & Kevin’s stationery suite!  The wedding will be in Walt Disney World at the Wedding Pavilion, followed by a reception at the Atlantic Dance Hall on the Boardwalk and then the evening will end with a dessert party in Epcot to watch the Illuminations!  We’ve just designed the save the dates and are just waiting to have them printed up to send out to all of the guests to get them excited about the festivities.  Below is a picture of the tray I made for their engagement – the design is a hint of what is to come for their wedding suite…
